NeuCoins and SuperCoins are worth ₹1 each, but only inside Tata brands or Flipkart. How they compare with bank reward points, plus the new NeuCoin claim rule from 25 November 2026.
Quick Verdict
NeuCoins and SuperCoins are store currencies, not bank rewards: 1 Tata NeuCoin = ₹1 off at eligible Tata brands, and 1 Flipkart SuperCoin = ₹1 saving on Flipkart, but neither can be spent anywhere else. Bank reward points are issued by your card's bank, can usually be redeemed in several ways, and are often worth far less than ₹1 each.
So in the NeuCoins vs SuperCoins question, the coin itself is not the point. What matters is how many you earn, where you can spend them, and when they expire.
Feature | Tata NeuCoins | Flipkart SuperCoins | Bank reward points |
|---|---|---|---|
Issued by | Tata Neu (also earned on Tata Neu HDFC cards) | Flipkart, for Plus members | Your card's bank |
Value | ₹1 each | ₹1 saving each | Varies, e.g. ₹0.15 to ₹1 |
Where you spend them | Eligible Tata brands only | Flipkart only | Statement credit, catalogue, vouchers, travel (by card) |
Typical earn | 1% to 5% on Tata Neu HDFC cards | 1 or 2 per ₹100 on Flipkart orders | Set by each card |
Main limit | Claim and expiry windows | 100 coins a month; redeem up to 5% of an item | Minimums, fees, devaluations |

What Are NeuCoins?
NeuCoins are the loyalty currency of Tata Neu. HDFC's NeuCoin guide says they can be used at the rate of 1 NeuCoin = ₹1 on eligible partner Tata brands.
Where NeuCoins can be used
Online, via the NeuCoins option at checkout: Air India Express, BigBasket, Croma, IHCL hotels, Tata CLiQ, Tata 1mg, Titan (via Tata Neu) and Westside.
In store, with an OTP at the counter: Croma, IHCL hotels and Westside.
Not currently on Air India, Tata Play, Cult.fit or bill payments on Tata Neu, as per the same guide.
How a credit card earns NeuCoins
The two Tata Neu HDFC Bank credit cards pay their rewards as NeuCoins:
Spend | Tata Neu Infinity HDFC | Tata Neu Plus HDFC |
|---|---|---|
Tata Neu and partner Tata brands (non-EMI) | 5% | 2% |
Extra on selected categories on the Tata Neu app/website (NeuPass) | Additional 5% | Additional 5% |
Other spends and merchant EMI | 1.5% | 1% |
UPI | Up to 1.5% (0.5% on card + 1% via Tata Neu UPI ID) | Up to 1% (0.25% + 0.75%) |
UPI cap | 500 NeuCoins a month | 500 NeuCoins a month |
Grocery cap | 2,000 NeuCoins a month | 1,000 NeuCoins a month |
No NeuCoins are earned on fuel, wallet loads, rent, government or online gaming spends on either card.
The big change on 25 November 2026
HDFC's updated guide (21 October 2026) says that from 25 November 2026, NeuCoins earned on Tata Neu HDFC cards will no longer move automatically to your Tata Neu account. The primary cardholder must claim them in the Tata Neu app.
Claimable balance updates within 7 working days of your statement date.
Each claim must be at least 100 NeuCoins; up to 3 claims a day.
You have 12 months from the statement date to claim. Unclaimed NeuCoins expire.
Claimed NeuCoins are then valid for about 12 months in your Tata Neu account (HDFC's example: credited 15 December 2026, valid till 31 December 2027).
Welcome and promotional NeuCoins keep the expiry given when they were issued.

What Are SuperCoins?
SuperCoins are Flipkart's reward for its Plus loyalty members. Flipkart's own announcement (June 2025) says 1 SuperCoin = ₹1 saving, redeemable across its selection. They are earned on Flipkart orders; you do not need a credit card to earn them.
Rule (Flipkart Plus terms) | Plus Silver | Plus Gold |
|---|---|---|
How to qualify | 15 successful transactions in the past 365 days | 25 successful transactions in the past 365 days |
Earn rate | 1 SuperCoin per ₹100 | 2 SuperCoins per ₹100 |
Per-order cap | 15 SuperCoins | 15 SuperCoins |
Monthly cap | 100 SuperCoins (by purchase month) | 100 SuperCoins |
Redemption limit | Up to 5% of an item's price, max 100 coins (2% on Flipkart Minutes) | Same |
When credited | After the return period ends for all items | Same |
So the most a Plus member can earn is 100 SuperCoins, or ₹100 of savings, in a month. Flipkart's Plus terms page we checked does not state an expiry period, so check the SuperCoin section in the app.
The Flipkart co-brand credit cards from Axis and SBI pay statement cashback, not SuperCoins. For SuperCoin transfers to IndiGo, see Flipkart SuperCoins to IndiGo BluChips.
How Bank Reward Points Differ
Bank points are created by the bank, sit in your card account and are valued by the bank's own catalogue. The rupee value depends on the card and on what you redeem for.
Card currency | Value | Catch |
|---|---|---|
HDFC Freedom CashPoints | ₹0.15 each | 3,334-point minimum and ₹50 fee per cashback redemption |
HDFC Millennia CashPoints | ₹1 each against the statement | 500 minimum, 3,000 maximum a month |
HDFC catalogue redemptions (most cards) | Varies | ₹99 + GST per request (not on Tata Neu cards) |
SBI Card reward points | Varies by card | ₹99 fee on physical products, statement credit and physical vouchers |
Amazon Pay ICICI rewards | ₹1 of Amazon Pay balance per ₹1 earned | Usable only on Amazon and Amazon Pay; no expiry |
RBI's credit card directions for banks require that reward points, loyalty points and cashback be provided transparently, with details displayed on the issuer's website. That is why the MITC and card terms are the place to check a point's value. Read How to Calculate the Real Value of 1 Reward Point.
A Worked Example for a First Card
Take a fresher who spends ₹10,000 a month: ₹3,000 on BigBasket, ₹2,000 on Flipkart and ₹5,000 elsewhere (no UPI, fuel or rent). Spend splits are our assumption.
Card | What you earn in a month | Rupee value | Where you can use it |
|---|---|---|---|
Tata Neu Plus HDFC | 60 NeuCoins (2% on BigBasket) + 70 NeuCoins (1% on the rest) | ₹130 | Tata brands only |
HDFC Freedom | 150 CashPoints on BigBasket (10 per ₹200) + 35 on the other ₹7,000 (1 per ₹200) | About ₹28 at ₹0.15 | Cashback after 3,334 points |
Any card + Flipkart Plus Silver | 15 SuperCoins if the ₹2,000 is one order (1 per ₹100, capped at 15 per order) | ₹15 | Flipkart only |
The SuperCoins come from Flipkart, not the card, so they stack on top of whatever your card pays. Note how the 15-per-order cap trims them: a ₹2,000 order earns 15, not 20. The Tata card wins on paper, but only if you actually buy from Tata brands.
NeuCoins vs SuperCoins: Which Is Better for a Beginner?
Pick a coin card if you already shop at that brand family every month. A coin worth ₹1 at a store you use is real money.
Pick a cashback or flexible-points card if your spending is spread out. Statement credit can be used for anything.
Do not choose a card for coins if you have no credit history yet. Approval, a low fee and paying in full matter more in year one.

Checklist
Write down the rupee value of one coin or point for your card.
List the brands where you can spend it.
Check monthly caps (UPI, grocery, SuperCoins per month).
Check the expiry and, for Tata Neu HDFC cards, the claim window from 25 November 2026.
Note any redemption fee or minimum.
Check exclusions such as fuel, rent, wallets and government payments.
Set a reminder to redeem before coins lapse.
Pay the full bill; interest wipes out any reward.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Mistake 1: Treating a ₹1 coin as ₹1 cash
It is ₹1 only at the brands that accept it.
Mistake 2: Forgetting to claim NeuCoins
From 25 November 2026, unclaimed Tata Neu HDFC NeuCoins expire 12 months after the statement date.
Mistake 3: Chasing SuperCoins past the cap
Plus members earn at most 100 SuperCoins a month and 15 per order.
Mistake 4: Redeeming small balances with a fee
A ₹50 or ₹99 fee can wipe out a small redemption.
Mistake 5: Ignoring zero-earn categories
Fuel, rent, wallet loads and government payments earn nothing on many cards, including both Tata Neu HDFC cards.
Mistake 6: Overspending to earn coins
Earning 5% on a purchase you did not need is still a 95% loss.
Benchmarksutra Verdict
NeuCoins and SuperCoins are both worth ₹1, but only inside their own stores. Bank points travel further but are often worth less per point. Choose based on where your money already goes.
Final rule: value every coin or point in rupees at the place you will actually spend it, then compare.
