Axis Bank My Zone Credit Card Now Lifetime Free: What Changes and What Still Costs You
Summary

Axis Bank now lists the My Zone Credit Card with ₹NIL joining and annual fee on Visa for a limited period. Here is what you get, the new spend conditions, and who should apply.

Quick Verdict

Axis Bank is now listing the My Zone Credit Card with a₹NIL joining fee and ₹NIL annual fee.

The fees table on Axis Bank's official card page marks both lines as alimited period offer on Visa Network, and the card listing page now tags My Zone as "Lifetime Free".

Until recently, the same page showed a ₹500 joining fee and a ₹500 annual fee.

That makes My Zone one of the easier entry-level Axis cards to hold. But the free tag does not make every benefit free to use.

The movie offer needs ₹25,000 of spends in the previous 3 calendar months (from 1 November 2026), and the lounge visit needs ₹50,000 in the previous 3 months. A lifetime free card with conditional perks is still a card you have to use well.

The simple rule:

Take it if you want a no-cost Axis card for Swiggy, movies and occasional rewards, and you pay the full bill every month. Do not expect a strong reward rate.

Before applying, check:

  • that the fees table still shows ₹NIL on the day you apply

  • that your application is for the Visa variant

  • the spend condition on the movie offer

  • the spend condition on lounge access

  • the reward exclusions list

  • forex and DCC markups

  • the 1% fees on rent, wallet, education, utility and fuel spends above set limits

What Is the Axis My Zone Lifetime Free News?

The news is about the fee on the Axis Bank My Zone Credit Card.

In plain words:

For a limited period, Axis Bank is listing the Visa variant of My Zone with no joining fee and no annual fee.

This is what Axis Bank's official fees table shows today:

Fee

What Axis Bank Shows Now

What the Page Showed Earlier in 2026

Annual Fee

₹NIL (Limited period offer on Visa Network)

₹500

Add-on Card Joining Fee

Nil

Nil

Add-on Card Annual Fee

-

Three words in that table matter:

  • Limited period: Axis Bank does not give an end date, so the offer can be pulled at any time.

  • Visa Network: the ₹NIL fee is tied to the Visa variant.

  • Offer: your welcome kit and card terms decide what you actually pay later.

Treat the offer as live only if the fees table shows ₹NIL on the day you apply. Take a dated screenshot.

Do not confuse this card with theMy Zone EasyCredit Card. That is a separate product with its own page and fees.

Why This News Matters

A ₹500 fee is small. But on an entry-level card, it can wipe out most of the value a light user gets.

My Zone's rewards are modest, so the fee was a real drag for anyone who used the card only for Swiggy orders and the odd movie.

The ₹0.20 per point value comes from Axis Bank's own value chart, which shows ₹600 of EDGE value on ₹1,50,000 of yearly spends. Actual redemption value depends on what you pick in the catalogue.

With the fee gone, every rupee of reward and discount is now net gain.

Up to ₹400 per statement cycle

Axis Bank's value chart claims annual benefits of up to ₹9,739 in year one, assuming ₹1,50,000 of yearly eligible spends. That figure assumes you use every offer every month. Most people will not.

Conditions That Changed Recently

Axis Bank has published a revision of the My Zone terms. Two dates matter.

Effective 28 August 2026

  • Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) markup went up to 3.5% from 1.5%.

  • The late payment fee for dues above ₹50,000 is now ₹1,300. Lower slabs are unchanged.

  • Payments are now adjusted first against fees and charges, then EMIs, interest, purchases and cash advances.

  • Gift card purchases moved to a separate "Gift Card" category. They still earn no rewards.

  • No rewards on bridge fees, road fees and tolls.

Effective 1 November 2026

  • To get the buy one get one District offer, you need ₹25,000 of spends in the previous 3 months.

  • For a newly issued card, this condition is waived for the month of issuance and the next 3 calendar months.

  • An upgrade from one variant to another is not a new issuance.

  • Only the monthly EMI amount counts towards the spend, not the full EMI purchase value.

So a new lifetime free cardholder gets roughly 4 months of the movie offer without a spend condition. After that, you need about ₹8,300 a month on the card to keep it.

Where You Will Earn Zero Points

Axis Bank lists these as non-earning categories on My Zone:

  • movie, fuel, insurance, wallet and rent

  • utilities and education

  • government institutions

  • EMI transactions

  • jewellery and gift cards

  • bridge fees, road fees and tolls

Most of these are also excluded from the ₹1.5 lakh milestone.

If you are unsure why a spend did not earn points, readWhy You Sometimes Earn Zero Reward Points.

Fees That Still Apply

Lifetime free means no joining or annual fee. It does not mean no charges.

Charge

Amount

Finance charges

3.75% per month (55.55% per year)

Cash withdrawal

2.5% of the amount, minimum ₹500

Foreign currency transaction fee

3.5%

3.5% (from 28 August 2026)

Rent transaction fee

1%

Wallet loads

Utility payments

Fuel

1% on ₹50,000 or more per statement cycle

Education via third-party apps

1%

Cash payment fee

₹175

Late payment fee

Nil below ₹500, then ₹500 to ₹1,300 by slab

GST applies on top of these charges.

If you carry a balance even once, one month's interest can cost more than a year of My Zone rewards. Run your numbers on theCredit Card Interest Calculator, and seeEvery Credit Card Fee Explained.

A Worked Example

Take a user who spends ₹15,000 a month on eligible categories, orders on Swiggy twice a month and watches one movie a month.

Item

Yearly Value

EDGE points: ₹1,80,000 ÷ 200 × 4 = 3,600 points

₹200

Swiggy: ₹120 × 2 × 12

₹2,880

Movies: up to ₹200 × 12 (spend condition met)

up to ₹2,400

SonyLIV (first year)

₹1,499

Total (first year)

about ₹7,700

Annual fee

₹0

This user spends ₹45,000 per quarter, which clears the ₹25,000 movie condition but not the ₹50,000 lounge condition.

Notice where the value sits. Almost 70% comes from Swiggy and movie discounts, not from rewards. If you do not use those two, this card is close to a 0.4% card.

Who Benefits Most?

  • students and young earners who want a first card with no yearly cost

  • frequent Swiggy users

  • people who watch at least one movie a month and book on District

  • existing Axis customers who want a free secondary card for offers

  • users who want a backup Visa card

The strongest profile:

A user who spends ₹10,000 to ₹20,000 a month, orders food online and watches movies regularly, and always pays in full.

Who Will Get Little Value?

Axis My Zone Lifetime Free Checklist

  • Does the fees table show ₹NIL for both joining and annual fee today?

  • Is your application for the Visa variant?

  • Did you save a dated screenshot of the fees table?

  • Do you understand the ₹25,000 movie spend condition after the first 4 months?

  • Do you know lounge access needs ₹50,000 in the previous 3 months?

  • Will you make your first purchase within 30 days for SonyLIV?

  • Have you checked the reward exclusions?

  • Can you pay the full bill every month?

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Mistake 1: Assuming every variant is free

Axis Bank ties the ₹NIL fee to the Visa Network. Confirm the network before you submit.

Mistake 2: Treating lifetime free as permanent for new applicants

It is a limited period offer. If the page changes before you apply, the fee may come back.

Mistake 3: Counting the movie offer every month

After the first 4 months, you need ₹25,000 of spends in the previous 3 months.

Mistake 4: Expecting a free lounge visit

Lounge access unlocks only after ₹50,000 of spends in the previous 3 months.

Mistake 5: Counting SonyLIV every year

Axis Bank's value chart marks it as a first-year benefit. The renewal voucher is linked to annual fee payment, which may not happen on a free card.

Mistake 6: Using it for rent or wallet loads

No points, and fees can apply.

  • Most value comes from Swiggy ₹120 codes and District BOGO, not from the ~0.4% reward rate.

  • From 1 Nov 2026 the BOGO needs ₹25,000 spend in the previous 3 months (waived for about 4 months on new cards).

  • Weak for rewards on everyday spend and for foreign use (3.5% forex).

Benchmarksutra Verdict

Removing a ₹500 fee is a meaningful change for an entry-level card.

My Zone now works if:

  • you use Swiggy and District regularly

  • you want a no-cost Axis card

  • you can meet the ₹25,000 quarterly spend for movies

  • you pay in full

It stays weak if:

  • you want rewards on everyday spends

  • you spend abroad

  • your big spends are rent, utilities or insurance

Final rule:

A free card is worth the offers you actually use. On My Zone, those offers are food delivery and movies. If that is not you, the free tag adds little.
