How Did We Rate These Mechanical Keyboards?
Every keyboard gets seven ratings out of 10. The mechanical profile is built for people who care how a keyboard types:
Typing feel & switches 30: switch type, hot-swap, gasket mount, sound dampening.
Build quality 20: case, plate, keycaps (PBT or ABS), rated keystrokes.
India value 15: price, India warranty and service.
Gaming performance, Ergonomics & layout, and Software & features 10 each.
Connectivity & battery 5.
Score = sum of (rating × weight) ÷ 10. Tiers: S 90+, A 80–89, B 70–79, C 60–69, D below 60. Magnetic (Hall effect) and analog optical boards are included, because they still use one switch per key.

What Makes a Good Mechanical Keyboard?
Switch type. Linear switches are smooth from top to bottom. Tactile switches have a bump you can feel. Clicky switches add a loud click; avoid them in shared rooms.
Hot-swap. You can pull switches out and fit new ones without soldering. Check which pin type the sockets take.
Gasket mount and foam. The plate sits on soft gaskets, and foam fills the case. This usually makes typing softer and quieter.
Keycaps. PBT resists the shiny wear that ABS shows over time. Double-shot legends do not rub off.
Low-profile. Shorter switches and keycaps, closer to a laptop. Logitech's MX Mechanical and G515 use them.

How to Choose a Mechanical Keyboard
Which switch should you pick?
Linear for gaming and fast typing, tactile if you like to feel each press, clicky only if you work alone. If unsure, buy a hot-swap board and change later.
Which size?
Full-size if you type numbers. TKL or 75% for most people. 65% and 60% save space but drop keys you may miss.
Do you need wireless?
Only if you switch devices or want a clean desk. Wired boards score 4 on our Connectivity row but cost less. See our best wireless keyboard guide.
Gaming too?
If you play fast shooters, look at Hall effect boards. Our best gaming keyboard in India guide ranks them on a gaming profile.
Checklist Before You Buy
Pick linear, tactile or clicky switches.
Choose a layout: full-size, TKL, 75%, 65% or 60%.
Check hot-swap support and which switches it accepts.
Check keycap material: PBT or ABS.
Check the India warranty on the invoice.
Compare Amazon.in, Flipkart and brand store prices on the day.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Buying clicky switches for an office. Blue switches are loud; your colleagues will notice.
Trusting the MRP. Several listings show MRPs more than double the selling price.
Confusing model variants. The AULA F75, F75 Pro and F75 Max are different boards, as are the F108 Pro and F108 Pro V2.
Assuming any switch fits a hot-swap board. The Keychron K2 HE Version 1 accepts only Gateron double-rail magnetic switches.
Paying for gaming features you won't use. If you only type, the ₹5,418 AULA F75 scores two points below the ₹21,190 K2 HE.
